It seems as if Amy Adams is right! Hollywood wasn't just trippin in order to make a new movie full of hot Irish men. Leap Year (the movie) comes out today and while most of you could care less about a romantic comedy, you should know that the actual plot of the movie is in fact a real tradition in Ireland. Girl power.
In the English speaking world, it is a tradition that women may propose marriage only on leap years. Because men felt that put them at too great a risk, the tradition was in some places tightened to restricting female proposals to the modern leap day, February 29, or to the medieval leap day, February 24.
